The 49ers got dealt one more blow from the heartbreaking loss to the Vikings on Sunday. Key offensive player Frank Gore will be out for three weeks with a right ankle strain. The only shining light is the 49ers have the next two games at home and have their bye week in three weeks. Rookie running back Glen Coffee will get his chance to show his skills as we will be the starter the next two weeks on an offensive that will run the football no matter who is in the backfield. Coffee only gained 54 yards on 25 carries against a tough Vikings defense. If Gore had been in the game you might have seen around the same numbers because of the Viks D-line. Coffee has gained only 64 yards on the season but he should have a big game against the hapless Rams who are 0-3 and are currently ranked 27th in the league against the run. The Lams D are giving up an average of 148.00 rushing yards a game. He knows it is his time to shine and he better make the best of it. The Niners will be at home in week 5 against the Falcons followed by their bye week. Gore’s injury is big but so long as it does not become a lingering injury the 49ers should be fine without him the next two games.
LT Joe Staley was also injured in the Vikings game with bruised right thigh that kept him out for most of the game. He is listed as day to day and should play on Sunday.
