While it's nowhere near as extreme as fake San Francisco 49ers' wide receiver Daejon Love's alternative reality, disgruntled wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk apparently still feels as if he's destined to join the Washington Commanders.
This, despite the fact he has yet to apply for reinstatement after the Niners placed him on the reserve/left squad list a year ago and also in light of the Commanders opting to sign veteran receiver Stefon Diggs to supplement their positional needs.
Aiyuk briefly halted his seemingly endless flow of social media posts in the aftermath of Diggs' signing.
But that's changed. The embattled pass catcher who hasn't played since 2024 is back at it on social media, effectively proving to the NFL world he's living in his own reality.

It would've been reasonable to conclude Aiyuk read the proverbial writing on the wall with the Diggs deal—his dream of going to Washington officially ending with the Commanders pursuing another (safer) option.
Aiyuk's latest Instagram post, however, suggests otherwise:

The receiver showed himself dancing around while wearing an old Washington Redskins cap, suggesting he's still viewing the nation's capital as his final destination in the imminent future.
It's not the first time he's worn Commanders-related gear. Judging by this post, it won't be the last.
Aiyuk clearly didn't get the message that Washington moved on. The Diggs signing effectively put a stop to any reasonable possibility of Aiyuk signing there, and for a while, the fact he was quiet on social media seemed to indicate said message was received loud and clear.
Apparently not, though, as his efforts to get back on social media now seem like a desperate ploy to convince the Commanders to somehow go after him.
Even though they're fully aware of his antics and odd behavior during this whole saga.
Meanwhile, Aiyuk still can't do anything until he applies for reinstatement, and that's something he publicly announced he wouldn't do as long as San Francisco has a role in it. So, in that regard, he's contributing to his own stalemate and effectively blocking any chance to sign with Washington anyway.
That is, of course, if the Commanders would even entertain him. Reality says they won't.
Aiyuk's reality, sadly, is far removed from that.
