The 49ers' selection of Alfred Collins probably just turned Matthew McConaughey into a bona fide Niners fan.
If San Francisco 49ers fans weren't already familiar with famed actor Matthew McConaughey, they certainly received a great introduction last season when he starred in a hilarious commercial with All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey.
Hall of Famer Jerry Rice, too, if you don't recall.
At least from that vantage point, McConaughey at least has to boast some respect for the Niners, given he got to work with one past legend and one current one.
Now, though, the notable Hollywood star might end up calling San Francisco his preferred NFL squad.
Matthew McConaughey is a fan of 49ers' 2nd-round NFL Draft pick, Alfred Collins
To kick off day two of the 2025 NFL Draft, the 49ers grabbed University of Texas defensive tackle Alfred Collins, a massive specimen of a defender who'll immediately upgrade their scuffling run defense.
Needless to say, McConaughey is pleased with the selection and pointed out how the 6-foot-6 lineman wouldn't shy away from the hard work:

"Sweats early, sweats late" might end up being the Niners' new saying under defensive coordinator Robert Saleh, who brought the "all gas, no brake" mentality to San Francisco way back in 2017 and hopes to reinvigorate that mantra.
McConaughey, who is originally from Uvalde, Texas, and attended the University of Texas in Austin, is a diehard Longhorns fan.
So, it makes more than enough sense for him to pull for Longhorns, both past and present.
Already having McCaffrey in his contacts list, McConaughey might have to add Collins, too, checking in on his new 49ers friend who'll unquestionably aid in the Niners' efforts to revamp their defensive line in 2025 and beyond.
