No. 3: 49ers safety Tashaun Gipson

There’s been one player on the defense of the Niners this season that is a contender for most underrated.

The main reason for that is not for any lack of effort, but due to the fact that he’s playing alongside so many generational talents on this squad.

That player is safety Tashaun Gipson. He started the season filling in for an injured Jimmie Ward, and since Gipson played so well that when Ward returned, the latter shifted over to the nickel corner spot so defensive coordinator DeMeco Ryans could utilize both their talents.

Gipson had five interceptions in the regular season with two big ones coming in the season finale against the Arizona Cardinals. That tied him for second in the league in that stat.

Although he had somewhat of a quiet game against Seattle, expect him to do some big things against Dallas.

Look for Gipson to come up with an interception on Sunday at a key time, to shift the momentum back to San Francisco.
