SF 49ers Standout No. 1: Wide Receiver Brandon Aiyuk

Rookie wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk was the leading receiver for the 49ers against the Dolphins. Although he only had three receptions for 44 yards, he made some big catches across the field. He was targeted six times, but many of those passes were overthrown when he was going down the field.

Aiyuk had a big game against the New York Giants gaining over 100 all-purpose yards and a score. He also had a good game against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 4, also picking up a score on a screen pass.

And despite the Niners’ sluggish start to the 2020 season, players like Aiyuk are showing why they’ll be integral pieces for the team in years to come.

In order for the SF 49ers offense to truly get going, though, it’ll have to rely on Aiyuk and fellow receiver Deebo Samuel more down the stretch. They will need to get them the ball in open space and allow them to pick up yards after the catch, which is a specialty skill both pass-catchers possess.

As of now, All-Pro tight end George Kittle is the focal point of the passing game. But if the other receivers can get involved, it will make a world of difference.
