No. 1: SF 49ers Wide Receiver Trent Taylor

It would be remiss to have this list and not include wide receiver Trent Taylor. After a promising rookie season in 2017, he took a step back in his sophomore campaign from a numbers standpoint due to some nagging back issues.

More from SF 49ers News

2019 should’ve been his breakout season, but he landed on the IR due to a foot injury and missed the whole season.

Taylor is chomping at the bits to return to the field and it has shown during training camp. In a recent interview with the 49ers’ own Keiana Martin, Greg Papa the team’s play-by-play announcer was asked who stood out to him at training camp.

His answer without hesitation, Taylor.

Papa praised Taylor for his quickness and ability to win one-on-one battles. Those were the same qualities that made him shine during his rookie season.

Now, especially with second-year wide receiver Jalen Hurd missing his second straight season due to injury, Taylor has a chance to be the main weapon out of the slot.

With a full season to rest up from his injuries, and under the tutelage of Wes Welker one of the all-time great slot receivers in the NFL, 2020 is Taylor’s to take. Don’t be surprised to see him have upwards of 700 yards receiving, which is a lot for someone not named George Kittle in Shanahan’s offense.
