49ers wide receivers: Brandon Aiyuk an unknown rookie talent

The 49ers traded up in the first round in the 2020 NFL Draft to select Arizona State wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. They moved up from pick No. 31 overall to pick No. 25 to select this player, ensuring Kyle Shanahan would get the receiver he wanted more than so many other top options.

There is a lot of speculation out there whether or not this was a good move for San Francisco. Aiyuk is definitely a wild card at this stage in the game, and it’s premature to assume a first-year player will have a massive impact in year one. The NFL Draft is certainly not a sure thing.

The Niners will have to see if the gamble pays off with Aiyuk when offseason programs start.  Aiyuk is third on the depth chart for now because of where he was drafted.

He is also this high because of what the team expects out of him.
