49ers wide receivers: Deebo Samuel’s impressive rookie season

Deebo Samuel has emerged as a front runner for the No. 1 spot on the 49ers wide receiver depth chart.

He surprised us by having a very strong rookie season, leading the team at his position with 802 receiving yards on 57 catches with three touchdowns, while also adding an impressive 159 rush yards and three more touchdowns on the ground.

It was intriguing how head coach Kyle Shanahan used the former South Carolina standout, and that serves to carry over into 2020.

Samuel started to come into his own in the second half of the season, which was great to see. He has also proven himself to be a reliable target for 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo.
