Former San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis has found himself accused of attacking a woman with magazines and books during an argument about an abortion last year, according to a criminal complaint obtained by TMZ. The accuser filed the January 8 complaint over an incident that allegedly took place on May 31.
The woman said that Davis "was hitting me with magazines and books from under his TV" after an argument broke out over her pregnancy. The woman also claims that Davis offered her $10,000. Davis reportedly stopped what he was doing when she took out her phone to record him.
On June 7, the woman claims Davis got into another argument with her after she accused him of lying. When she sat next to him on the couch, Davis is alleged to have slapped her in the face before telling her "not to question him. Later, she allegedly recorded Davis saying, "If I really slapped you, your face would be blue/black."

Also, the woman attests that Davis left her with visible bruises at yet another altercation that happened before the May 31 one. This incident was reportedly before she found out that she was pregnant. The complaint also notes that there is an open strangulation and assault case related to this incident.
A warrant for Davis' arrest was issued on January 8 for assault and battery. Davis' court date is reportedly set for some time in February. According to TMZ, sources who know Davis said that he "is taking the allegations seriously."
Davis played in the NFL for 14 seasons, nine of which came for the 49ers. Davis also spent time with Denver and Washington. Davis, who was picked No. 6 overall in the 2006 NFL Draft, tallied 7,562 receiving yards and 63 touchdowns in his career while winning a Super Bowl as a member of the Broncos in 2015.
Davis' post-football life has included brief forees into sports team ownership, reality TV, and acting. These allegations are very serious in nature, and stand to taint his professional career should they be proven true.
