The San Francisco 49ers are trying to figure out left tackle Trent Williams' contract, which could cause some headaches. Obviously, they want to retain him any way possible, but if the situation deteriorates, the Niners may be forced to explore other options.
There are lots of teams around the NFL that would like to trade for Williams, and these three teams may be the first to call if it seemed like San Francisco was open to trading the future Hall of Famer.
Houston Texans
The Houston Texans seem like they want to improve the situation around quarterback C.J. Stroud rather than move on from him. If they are committed to Stroud, adding Williams to the mix would immediately give him more protection up front.
The Texans and 49ers have a good relationship since DeMeco Ryans is the head coach there, so it doesn't seem completely impossible that they could work something out.
Maybe the Niners could get a package of draft picks or maybe a pick and young tackle Aireontae Ersery. Or if the 49ers really wanted to get wild, maybe they could trade Williams straight up for a star receiver like Nico Collins.
Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens are a team that could use some help in the trenches. They are coming off a disappointing campaign and could certainly stand to protect quarterback Lamar Jackson a little more after he played in just 13 games last season.
Like with the Texans, getting some high draft picks in return could get a deal done, or maybe San Francisco could try and get a burner like wide receiver Zay Flowers in a deal.
New York Giants
John Harbaugh is now the head coach of the New York Giants, and you can bet he wants to make sure young quarterback Jaxson Dart is supported up front especially after he took some licks last season.
Maybe trading Williams to New York in exchange for wide receiver Malik Nabers could be a blockbuster trade that would address needs for both sides.
Of course, if the Niners did trade Williams, they would have to replace him. If they got picks in return for him, they would have to select a tackle and hope they get lucky with the selection. Or if the 49ers got a receiver in return, they may have to sign a free agent to try to fill the left tackle void.
Plan A is making sure Williams is happy, but if all else fails, don't be shocked if the Niners end up trading him to one of these three teams.
