The San Francisco 49ers are a member of one of the toughest divisions in the NFL, but that hasn't stopped them from starting out the season 4-0.
Even in the face of multiple injury-related setbacks, the Niners remain on top of the NFC West.
Stats prove nobody is playing cleaner football than 49ers
3rd-down success
Only the Baltimore Ravens have made fewer third-down attempts than the 49ers, with Baltimore attempting 37 times to the Niners' 40. But nobody has a higher success rate than San Francisco, completing 57.5 percent of the attempts.
This shows the 49ers are routinely avoiding third downs altogether, meaning an efficient offense has driven them to winning football.
Drives ending in scores
Through four weeks, the Niners have run 234 plays across 38 separate drives. That's one of the lowest drive counts in football, yet only the Dallas Cowboys have a higher scoring percentage per drive than San Francisco. The Cowboys have scored on 61.1 percent of their respective 36 drives, while the 49ers have scored on 52.6 percent of their own.
These two stats show the Niners are not letting drives die, but rather they're maximizing the scoring opportunities that they do have.
No sacks allowed
The 49ers are the only team in football yet to give up a sack. The offensive line had many question marks on it to start the season, but through four weeks, they've stood strong.
Credit must go to quarterback Brock Purdy, who's been playing lights-out football and has earned a genuine spot in the MVP conversation
NFL's highest point differential
On top of that, San Francisco boasts the highest point differential in the entire NFL at plus-58. The 49ers have allowed only 64 points to their 122 scored, nearly doubling every opponent that's been in front of them. The Niners aren't stacking one score games, they're substantially winning.
The rest of the league is welcome to wait for the regression. San Francisco will still be over here converting the few third downs and scoring on half of its drives.
Four weeks in, the burden of proof isn't on the 49ers anymore, it's on everyone chasing them.
