The 2024 NFL schedule release happens this week, and 49ers fans will want to know how to tune in live.

Fans are now just days away from knowing how to plan out their Sundays (and the occasional Monday, Thursday, Saturday and potentially Wednesday) for the upcoming 2024 season.

San Francisco 49ers fans are potentially hoping their team won't have to play again on the holidays, both Thanksgiving and Christmas, thereby allowing more time to spend with family and friends. But watching a football game on either holiday would be welcomed, especially if there's no serious rooting interest.

But, when will fans find out the schedule itself?

Soon. Very soon.

When is the 2024 NFL schedule release?

It's official. The 2024 NFL regular-season schedule will be announced on Wednesday, May 15 at 8 p.m. ET.

Fans will likely receive leaks and rumors about schedules in advance, and Niners fans can bookmark this page that tracks each one of those rumors and reports. We also know San Francisco's opponents for the upcoming season, just not when those games will be played.

At least not yet.

What channel is the 2024 NFL schedule release on?

NFL Network, NFL+ and ESPN2 will broadcast the official schedule release.

Check your local affiliates for channel information in your area.

Will the 49ers open up the regular season on Thursday night?

As enticing as a 49ers-Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl rematch would be to open up the 2024 season, the opening Thursday Night Football matchup will instead be a rematch of last year's AFC Championship game between KC and the Baltimore Ravens.

The Niners have a recent trend of opening up on the road in Week 1, largely due to the notably warm weather that'll hit Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara during early September.

Tune in on Wednesday to find out the official Week 1 opponent and location, though.
