49ers 2024 schedule release date rumors, leaks, opponents and more
By Peter Panacy
Niner Noise combs through the latest 49ers schedule-release rumors and breaks down what we're learning as it comes in.
It's a bit of an oddity that the NFL schedule-makers wait until nearly the final minute to officially announce when any given year's regular-season schedule will be officially revealed.
Unlike nearly every other event on the calendar, fans are left wondering, often until the very week of the schedule release itself.
Speaking of the release, it's usually in early May, typically on a Thursday. But that's not official.
We do know, however, which opponents the San Francisco 49ers will play in 2024. That part has been known for a while know.
We just don't know when. At least not yet.
But, we can track rumors and reports and share those here until the official release goes live... at some point soon.

San Francisco's at-large games on a first-place schedule will include matchups versus the Chiefs, Buccaneers and Cowboys.
When will the 2024 NFL schedule be released?
According to some insight from Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, the schedule release date was to be pushed back a week later than usual.
Then, as shared by ESPN's Adam Schefter, the schedule release was reported as going live on Wednesday, May 15, likely at 8 p.m. ET:
49ers 2024 schedule leaks and rumors
There will be numerous leaks and rumors about the 49ers' actual schedule.
One of those was potentially leaked by wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who dropped a "big news coming" on the NFL's Twitter/X platform for the United Kingdom and Ireland:
The Jacksonville Jaguars, Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings are known to be hosting international games in Great Britain this season, and the Niners will be the road team against Minnesota.
Ultimately, however, San Francisco won't be playing overseas with the official international schedule not featuring the 49ers this year.
What is known, however, is San Francisco will host quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets in Week 1 on Monday Night Football.
It's known because the league itself announced it:
That'll be followed up by a road trip to take on the Minnesota Vikings, according to Vikings insider Rick Sosa.
Meanwhile, NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported the highly anticipated Super Bowl rematch between the 49ers and Chiefs will take place on Fox in Week 7 on Oct. 20.
And the Niners will reportedly visit another Super Bowl contender, the Buffalo Bills, for a Sunday Night Football showdown in Week 13 on Dec. 1:
The week prior to the Bills game, the Niners are apparently visiting the Green Bay Packers in a rematch of last year's divisional playoff contest, according to The Athletic's Matt Schneidman.
Another rumor, meanwhile, has San Francisco hosting the Detroit Lions in Week 17 on Monday Night Football in a rematch of last season's NFC Championship game.
