Who is playing Monday Night Football this week (and why should I watch)?
By Peter Panacy
If you're not sure who is playing Monday Night Football in Week 7, a guess would be this is your first time visiting Niner Noise.
There was a time in your own football fandom when you weren't sure exactly when your favorite team was playing any given week.
Perhaps that describes you now, and it's perfectly OK.
On top of that, you might not be sure who's playing any of the primetime games each and every week (hint: there are typically three each week -- Thursday Night Football, Sunday Night Football and Monday Night Football).
That's OK, too.
We're in Week 7 of the 2023 NFL calendar, and Monday Night Football will wrap up the weekend's slate of games.
So, which teams are playing? If you're here, you probably guessed one of the two correctly.
49ers visit Vikings on Monday Night Football in Week 7
For this week's installment of Monday Night Football, the 5-1 San Francisco 49ers travel to take on the 2-4 Minnesota Vikings.
The Niners are coming off their first loss of the season at the hands of the Cleveland Browns, while the Vikings beat the Chicago Bears to secure their second victory of 2023.
The game will kick off on Monday, Oct. 23 at 8:15 p.m. and will be aired nationally on television by ESPN and ABC, and there are also other ways to tune into the broadcast.

Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins has a notable history with San Francisco's head coach, Kyle Shanahan, as the latter was instrumental in getting the former drafted by the Washington Redskins back in 2012.
Cousins is 11-19 in primetime games, though, and the 49ers can hope that their own quarterback, Brock Purdy, will develop a reputation for winning those contests under the bright lights.
Purdy suffered his first regular-season defeat at the NFL level when the Niners lost to Cleveland last weekend.
Monday's game will be played at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
