The San Francisco 49ers won their Week 1 match-up against the New York Jets in dominant fashion but the Niners might find themselves in some hot water this week. Christian McCaffrey was ruled out on Monday before the game but Jordan Mason revealed after the game that he knew he'd be starting on Friday.

Uh oh.

Despite his heroic performance on the field, Mason wasn't happy with the media. When asked by a reporter in his postgame press conference when he knew he'd be in the starting lineup, you could tell Mason was uncomfortable. He hesitated a bit and then said, "That question right there is why I'm mad. That's why I don't really like talking to media because you say one thing wrong and then you know... I don't know. Just skip that question."

Jordan Mason was not happy with a certain question in his postgame interview

Mason pretty much admitted guilt with this answer and you have to feel a bit bad for the guy. He had an incredible game for the 49ers but now this might be what he's remembered most for down the road. You'd have to think the 49ers brass told him he shouldn't have said what he did and instead of trying to walk it back, he clamped up when asked the question in his presser.

This won't be the last we hear of this drama this week. It's a shame too because Mason had a fantastic starting debut for the Niners, rushing for 147 yards and a touchdown but again, this is going to hang over that performance like a dark cloud.

If the 49ers are proven to have tried to conceal an injury, they will be fined by the league. Mason was obviously stoked after his big game and when asked about when he knew he'd be starting, didn't think much of answering the question honestly. Now his team is about to pay the price.
