50. Final. 34. 42. 49ers-Lions final. 31

According to Brandon Aiyuk, a tiny bug ended up being the key difference-maker for the 49ers in the NFC Championship game over the Lions.

The San Francisco 49ers needed a few things to go their way after halftime in the NFC Championship game against the Detroit Lions.

After all, Detroit was red-hot in the first half and was out to a 24-7 lead and was dominating both sides of the ball. The Niners, meanwhile, were dead in the water.

Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk was a big reason why San Francisco staged one of the most incredible comebacks in the franchise's postseason history. With 24 points scored in the third and fourth quarters, the 49ers edged the Lions 34-31 to advance to the Super Bowl and a date with their old postseason nemesis, the Kansas City Chiefs.

However, getting to that point meant that Aiyuk, one of the Niners' top offensive weapons, had to step up in a big way.

He had to have a little bit of a good-luck charm, though.

Brandon Aiyuk credits a lady bug for helping 49ers beat Lions in NFC Championship game

Aiyuk had an insane 51-yard catch that bounced off a Lions defensive back and set San Francisco up inside the Lions' 5-yard line.

A few plays later, he was on the receiving end of a touchdown that helped spark the 49ers' comeback.

Once the Niners finally pulled off the victory, Fox Sports' Erin Andrews caught up with Aiyuk and asked him what happened, specifically on that crazy play that could have easily been an interception for Detroit.

Aiyuk shifted focus to a bug. A ladybug, to be precise.

"Before the game, a ladybug landed on my shoe," Aiyuk told Andrews. "Just great luck, God was with us today, great win, bang bang Niner gang."

Andrews advised Aiyuk to take the ladybug to Super Bowl LVIII against KC, and it'd probably be wise for him to do so.
