Oh, yes, and it wasn't even the end of the third quarter yet when the Niners tied things up.
Three big plays defined this comeback. The first play came on defense, where the 49ers managed to hold thanks to a drop from Lions wide receiver Josh Reynolds.
The second play wasa deep bomb from quarterback Brock Purdy to wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk, which was a bit overthrown and looked like it could very well be a pick.
Instead, the ball pinballed up in the air into the grateful arms of a diving Aiyuk to make it first and goal. A few plays later, Aiyuk caught the touchdown.
24-17.
Then came a big play almost immediately into the 49ers drive, where safety Tashaun Gipson
stripped the ball from rookie running back Jahmyr Gibbs. The 49ers capitalized when running back Christian McCaffrey ran into the endzone.
24-24.
In the fourth quarter, the 49ers would drive into field goal range and take the lead 27-24. The comeback is now complete, it's now on the defense to hold on.
The crowd is right into this game, so are the 49ers players. Meanwhile, the Lions on the sidelines look like they've been hit by a truck judging by the stunned looks on their faces and how quickly this game has turned around.
With one quarter left, the 49ers have a big chance to complete a big comeback and make the Super Bowl. If they come back from this, they know they can come back from anything.
