Talk about awkward.

The San Francisco 49ers and Brandon Aiyuk agreed to terms on a four-year deal worth $120 million and Niners fans are ecstatic to have the star wide receiver in town for another five years in total. After the news was broken, Adam Schefter tweeted about how "Aiyuk accepted the same deal that has been on the table since August 10".

Schefter mentioned that Aiyuk's hold-in didn't change anything and it was the same deal that had been made available to Aiyuk three weeks ago. Well, as you can probably predict, Aiyuk's agent, Ryan Williams, didn't like this tweet and made sure to quote tweet Schefter and call him out but for the reasons you think.

Williams said: "That's factually inaccurate but the check still cashes" and added a winking emoji to the end of it. According to the agent's response, this was not what went down but he and his client are both still happy to be getting paid.

Brandon Aiyuk's agent jumps to point out Adam Schefter's tweet is inaccurate

Aiyuk and the Niners had been at a standstill in contract negotiations all offseason and it's finally over. The 49ers will have Aiyuk through 2028 and hopefully, he ends up being worth all of the dough the organization will be paying him. After seeing what he's done through the first four years of his career, it's hard to believe he won't be worth that money.

Aiyuk is coming off the best year of his career, tallying 75 receptions for 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns. During his three playoff games, Aiyuk racked up nine catches for 149 yards and one touchdown. He's a player that makes this Niners offense even tougher to stop and extending him needed to be done.

The 49ers still have to figure out a deal for Trent Williams and will eventually have to pay Brock Purdy (assuming they want to). This is a team that has been at or near the top of the NFC for the past several years and hopefully, that continues despite having to shell out money to star players.
