Amy Trask congratulates Brock Purdy after criticizing him before beating Packers

Maybe Amy Trask is slowly turning into a Brock Purdy fan after doubting him not long ago.

After initially discrediting Brock Purdy, former Raiders executive Amy Trask turned and congratulated him and the 49ers after they beat the Packers in the divisional round.

It's not hard to find doubters and critics out there who question whether or not San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is the real deal. A simple Google search will do the trick.

One of those who wasn't exactly heaping praise on the final pick of the 2022 NFL Draft is Amy Trask, a former executive of the Oakland Raiders, who still makes the rounds as a respected author, speaker and personality when it comes to all things football.

Seriously, she's a good follow on Twitter/X.

Yet her critique on Purdy, which aired on the Bay Area's 95.7 The Game, earned plenty of scorn from Niners fans.

"When I look at the eight quarterbacks," Trask said. "I don't put Brock at the top of that eight. I probably do put him at the bottom of the eight."

This meant Trask ranked Purdy behind Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield and quarterback Jordan Love of the Packers, who both lost their playoff bouts during the same weekend.

That critique was before Purdy and Co. looked flat and disjointed for much of the divisional-round playoff game at Levi's Stadium against the surging Green Bay Packers, who held a 21-17 lead into the final minutes of the fourth quarter.

Except Purdy helped engineer a 12-play, 69-yard drive in which he went 6-of-7 and helped set up running back Christian McCaffrey's game-winning 6-yard touchdown run to pull off the 24-21 victory that sent San Francisco to the NFC Championship game.

Even though Purdy wasn't good for much of the contest, he played his best when it mattered most.

Trask, too, was impressed.

Amy Trask appears to walk back Brock Purdy criticism

Not long after the 49ers beat the Packers, Trask took to Twitter to offer her congratulations to Purdy and his teammates:

"You led your 49ers team to a game winning touchdown - congratulations," Trask tweeted. "If you advance to the Super Bowl, which I believe you will, I'll treat to ice cream in Las Vegas."

It seems as if Purdy has helped convince Trask that he might be a little bit more of a "real deal" than she initially thought.

Should the Niners advance to Super Bow LVIII, one can only wonder if Purdy will take Trask up on her offer.

And what kind of ice cream will he get?
