3 49ers UDFAs who might steal a roster spot in training camp
UDFA 3: DT Evan Anderson
Of all the UDFAs the 49ers brought in, defensive tackle Evan Anderson has the highest chance of being a 49er in some capacity.
That comes with the territory of a $280K signing bonus to join the 49ers as a UDFA, an amount that nearly assures Anderson a role on the 49ers practice squad, as speculated by team insider Matt Maiocco.
But beyond that, Anderson fits a very specific need on the 49ers defensive line: a nose tackle who can command the run game.
With the offseason free-agent signing of Jordan Elliott, the Niners began their attempt to reshape their defensive line to stop the run, but Anderson should slot in nicely in that same role as a backup.
With no other player on the roster other than Elliott who fits that role, it gives Anderson an obvious path.
