While exhibition games rarely feature the full talent and impact of a regular-season game, and it's easy to get bored of the under-the-radar storylines that pop up after the first quarter or so, it's nevertheless a welcomed sight to have football back.

Even if the capacity is somewhat meaningless, in terms of the final score and outcome.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan's squad has already dealt with plenty of headaches this offseason, none bigger than wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk's ongoing contract extension drama and subsequent trade speculation.

But Saturday's preseason tilt will give a pretty good indication of how the roster is shaping up, who is on the fringes and who is standing out. After all, it's doubtful Shanahan will deploy a bulk of his starters on both offense and defense, leaving plenty of backups to see the majority of field time.

Those storylines will matter much more than the final score.

The Niners and Titans will kick off Week 1 of the preseason on Saturday, Aug. 10 from Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee.

Kickoff time is at 7 p.m. ET.

The game will be televised in local markets only, KPIX 5 and CW Bay Area in Northern California and on WKRN in the greater Nashville area.

NFL+ will stream the game live, while NFL Network will broadcast a replay of the game on Sunday, Aug. 11. at 11 p.m. ET.

San Francisco is a 5.5-point underdog, according to the latest odds from FanDuel Sportsbook.

The 49ers' moneyline is +200, whereas the Titans' moneyline is -240.
