Ricky Pearsall shooting: Latest updates on 49ers’ rookie

Update: The 49ers have released a statement on the shooting, noting that Pearsall is in “serious but stable condition”

According to their report, Pearsall was shot during an attempted robbery while traveling to Union Square for an autograph signing, speculated to be in the area around Geary and Market Streets. It has also been reported that the thieves were targeting Pearsall's Rolex watch.

The SFPD have since confirmed, (via San Francisco mayor London Breed) the major details of the incident, while also relating that Pearsall and his assailant are both in a stable condition in San Francisco General Hospital.

Deebo Samuel also weighed in to give an update on Pearsall's condition, tweeting the following as reports broke:

Very little else is currently known about the incident, nor the extent of Pearsall's injuries, but it sounds like he’s doing well which is all that matters in a situation like this. More will be known in coming days but for now Pearsall seems to have avoided something worse.

This event has sent shockwaves reverberating around the 49er fanbase, as well as the NFL world as a whole, and all of us at Niner Noise wish Pearsall a speedy and safe recovery from this horrible incident, and hope the perpetrators are brought to justice as swiftly as possible.

Update: Kirsten Moran-Kellar of Fox 40 in Northern California says Pearsall is stable and was shot through the arm:

Pearsall was the 49ers first round pick this year, even though he was recovering from an injury at the time. It’s been up-in-air as far when he’d see the field. He’s been held out of action in the preseason so far as a result.
