49ers news: Levi's Stadium expected to host Super Bowl 60

The 49ers already watched Super Bowl 50 play out at Levi's Stadium, and it sounds like the venue will play host to another Super Bowl awfully soon.

There has been one Super Bowl at Levi's Stadium, the home venue for the San Francisco 49ers.

It was Super Bowl 50, a game in which a potent Carolina Panthers offense led by quarterback Cam Newton was completely shut down by EDGE Von Miller and the Denver Broncos defense. Denver ended up winning that game in Santa Clara, California, by a score of 24-10 with Miller being named the contest's MVP.

Now, after 10 years of being played elsewhere, it appears as if the Super Bowl will make its return to Levi's Stadium, according to a recent report.

Latest report says Levi's Stadium will host Super Bowl 60 in 2026

Ben Fischer of the Sports Business Journal reported this week that Levi's Stadium would be hosting the Super Bowl in 2026, and he also noted that NFL executives had been "in advanced discussions" with the Niners about doing so:

It's not quite official, but Fisher reported that the final decision could ultimately be announced at the NFL owners meeting next week.

One of the selling points about having Levi's Stadium host Super Bowl 60 is due to the FIFA World Cup and so many NFL stadiums hosting soccer games around the same time.

Interestingly enough, SoFI Stadium, home of the Los Angeles Chargers and the 49ers' own NFC West rivals, the Los Angeles Rams, is reportedly the favorite to host Super Bowl 61 the following year.

"Levi's South," as SoFI has now become known because of the influx of Niners fans there in games involving San Francisco, also hosted a Super Bowl in February of 2022.
