49ers open up as favorites for Week 1 road game vs. Steelers

The oddsmakers at FanDuel already see the 49ers as early favorites on the road versus the Steelers in Week 1.

Week 1 of the NFL season is probably going to provide the absolute maximum amount of lead time for any betting odds to be observed well in advance.

With nearly four months remaining between now and the start of the 2023 season, the oddsmakers over at FanDuel have already laid out betting odds for Week 1 of the upcoming NFL schedule.

The Steelers finished the 2022 season with a 9-8 record, which helped head coach Mike Tomlin avoid his first sub-.500 season but one in which his team missed the playoffs for the first time since 2019.

The Niners, meanwhile, made it to the NFC Championship game for the second season in a row after winning the NFC West by the conclusion of the regular season.

49ers vs. Steelers: Early betting lines and odds for Week 1

San Francisco is a three-point road favorite against Pittsburgh for Week 1, according to the oddsmakers at FanDuel.

The moneyline is currently -162 for the 49ers and +136 for the Steelers, while it appears as if a low-scoring game is in order with the over/under set at 42.5.

Perhaps the oddsmakers understood that Pittsburgh's offense ranked 26th in scoring last season and that the Niners have also historically started slow on offense under head coach Kyle Shanahan. Tack on some uncertainty at quarterback between Trey Lance and a still-recovering Brock Purdy, and it makes sense why a low-scoring affair would be the prediction.
