There's only 1 way Vikings would gift 49ers a Jauan Jennings reunion

They have to start losing first.

After the San Francisco 49ers lost Deebo Samuel to injury in Week 5's win over the Seattle Seahawks, it became even more imperative general manager John Lynch land a receiver via trade to make up for all of the players who have been injured.

One of the most popular names being floated right now is Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jauan Jennings.

He is clearly discontent in Minnesota as he only has two catches for 9 yards in four games played this season. Jennings has looked upset on the sideline and reportedly even had words for head coach Kevin O'Connell.

While a reunion with San Francisco would make a ton of sense, given how familiar he is with the offense and how great a rapport he had with quarterback Brock Purdy, the Vikings don't have a lot of incentive to gift Jennings back to the Niners, considering the two NFC squads are both 5-0 to begin the season.

Now, most consider San Francisco's 5-0 start more impressive than Minnesota's, and many think of the 49ers as the superior team, but the Vikings are not a joke. They have beaten good teams and O'Connell is a good coach with a track record of getting the most out of his unit.

Vikings have no concrete reason to trade Jauan Jennings (right now)

Really, the only way the Vikings might trade Jennings to the Niners is if they go on a losing streak ahead of the Nov. 10 trade deadline. Minnesota has a bye in Week 6, but after that, it'll face the Indianapolis Colts, Detroit Lions, and Buffalo Bills ahead of the trade deadline.

Those will be three interesting games, which could determine a lot about what Minnesota decides to do. If the Vikings win at least two out of three of those games, they'll still be in a good position in the NFC and probably won't want to make any deals that could benefit a conference rival that'll also be vying for the No. 1 seed.

Yet, if they lose two out of three, or potentially even drop all three games, then they have to think more about getting rid of a guy like Jennings, especially if he continues to be a non-factor in the offense.

Keep in mind, the 49ers and Vikings are going to play each other in Mexico City in Week 11 on Nov. 22, so the Vikings would feel silly if they gave Jennings back to the Niners in exchange for a sixth-round pick or something, and he then proceeded to torch them.

If the Niners do want to get Jennings back, they need Minnesota to lose its next three games, which would make the Vikings question whether they are a pretender or a contender and could lead to them being open to a Jennings trade.
