This one throw vs. Seahawks sparked endless debate about Brock Purdy's skills

The pointless debate over Brock Purdy is apparently alive and well, and Week 6's game versus the Seahawks proved it.

It does not matter whether San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy does well or poorly. No matter what, there will always be those who try to tear him down and ridicule him.

That remained true after he played great against the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday.

Purdy completed 18 of 28 passes for 255 yards and threw 3 touchdown passes with no interceptions. It was a great bounceback game after he struggled against the Arizona Cardinals, throwing two interceptions in a losing effort.

Despite his great showing against the Seahawks, there were still people who took issue with Purdy's performance.

Just look below:

Benjamin Solak of ESPN feels that Purdy's 76-yard touchdown pass to Samuel was at least partly due to luck. On first glance, it is easy to understand why. It appears Purdy floats the ball a bit and risks a potential interception with the safety rushing in to cover Deebo on the play.

But Purdy got ample air on the ball to get it over the linebacker's head and yet not too much air that the safety had a chance to make a play on the ball.

He also led Samuel back towards the middle of the field, which allowed him to evade the safety's tackle and take it to the house for a touchdown.

There were others who came to Purdy's defense including former NFL linebacker Emmanuel Acho:

Acho feels that Purdy was simply taking advantage of poor defense and blown coverage on the play. He definitely got a little lucky that the safety whiffed on the tackle, but he still put the ball where it needed to be for Deebo to make an explosive play.

Deebo clearly agreed. After the game, he had two simple words when asked about what was working for him in the game: Brock Purdy.

It is nothing new for "analysts" to decry Purdy and take issue with his play. As 49ers beat writer David Lombardi noted on X, many of these analysts have been so consistently wrong on Purdy that their reputations are now bound up in his failure.

It is telling that those who come to Purdy's defense are former players and coaches who actually have an understanding of what it takes to be a legit NFL quarterback.

Purdy balled out on Thursday and no matter what the "analysts" say, he has played great for the 49ers this year and is clearly their quarterback of the future.
