NFL Draft order if the season ended today: 49ers would own a top-15 pick

Yes, it's time to start thinking about how high of a first-round pick the Niners would get in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The 49ers are edging closer to a top-10 NFL Draft pick rather than a playoff berth with 13 weeks of the season now in the books.

Losers of three games in a row, the San Francisco 49ers have watched their hopes of reaching the postseason go from reasonable to downright next to impossible.

Sure, the Niners still have a chance. But, with only five weeks remaining, a shoddy 1-3 record within the NFC West and a last-place berth within the division, a 5-7 San Francisco squad seems nothing like the Super Bowl contender it was a season ago.

If anything, 13 weeks of action have hinted at the 49ers being more of a downtrodden team aiming or a top-10 pick in the following year's NFL Draft.

And that's where the Niners seem to be heading.

San Francisco still technically isn't eliminated from the No. 1 overall pick, currently held by the two-win Jacksonville Jaguars. But the sheer number of "worse" teams that would all have to outplay the 49ers over the final five weeks makes such an outcome all but impossible.

But, if the season was to end today, the Niners would still have a relatively high pick in Round 1.

  8. Cleveland Browns (3-9)

Teams projected to be in the playoffs (pick Nos. 19-32): Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos, Seattle Seahawks, Washington Commanders, Houston Texans, Baltimore Ravens, Los Angele Chargers, Pittsburgh Steelers, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, Kansas City Chiefs

A pivotal game for San Francisco, at least in terms of draft positioning, will take place in Week 14 against the Bears, who'll visit Levi's Stadium and aim to extend the 49ers' current losing streak. The Niners also visit the Dolphins in Week 16, and that particular bout could influence who has a shot at a top-10 pick next April.
