Money twist gives two 49ers receivers every reason to shine vs. Seahawks

Cash is a good motivator.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Kendrick Bourne made news several week ago when he, after weeks of being close, finally reached 500 receiving yards on the season.

In doing so, it triggered a $500,000 bonus on the one-year contract he signed just after Week 1's victory over the Seattle Seahawks.

Bourne has a chance to add to that figure again, ironically when the Niners host the top-seeded Hawks for a Week 18 regular-season finale at Levi's Stadium on Saturday evening.

But Bourne isn't the only San Francisco receiver looking to cash in on contractual incentives for the high-profile showdown that'll determine the No. 1 seed in the NFC playoff picture.

Jauan Jennings, whose contractual standoff last offseason resulted in a rewritten deal that included plenty of incentive-based thresholds, seemed as if he'd also struggle to reach goals early on during the season, particularly when he was dealing with several injuries.

Getting hot in recent weeks, though, Jennings is at nine touchdowns on the year and looking to add to that total against Seattle.

Should both Bourne and Jennings have big games on Saturday, they'll receive some hefty financial compensation.

The NFL salary-cap analytics site, Spotrac, put together a list of notable incentives to watch for the final week of the regular season, and both Jennings and Bourne made the list.

For Jennings, it might be easy enough. According to Spotrac, he already earned $1.6 million by appearing on 35 offensive snaps in 14 games, yet he could increase the figure to $2.4 million by logging another 35 against the Seahawks.

As for Bourne, things might be a bit more challenging.

Should he garner 49 more receiving yards, thereby getting to 600 on the season, it'd trigger another $250,000 as an incentive. That'd be a tall order, of course. But an even taller one is the additional $500,000 bonus if he records eight more catches in the game.

Of the two stat targets, the former seems much more likely. But, in facing the NFL's No. 2-ranked scoring defense, neither will come easily.
