Mike Florio hints 49ers' impasse with Brandon Aiyuk may conclude soon

It'll be nice when this whole thing finally comes to an end.

It certainly seems as if disgruntled wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk opted to choose violence in recent weeks, taking to social media to express his frustration with the San Francisco 49ers, likely aimed at their decision not to release him outright and become a free agent.

However, several of Aiyuk's anti-Niners rants on social media have since been deleted, and a new video popped up with a caption that read, "Coming to a endzone near [you]."

By this point, it's nearly impossible to translate exactly what the receiver means, although there's no variance from concluding he wants out and all but wants to join his collegiate friend, quarterback Jayden Daniels, and the Washington Commanders subsequently thereafter.

Now, whether or not the Commanders want to make a move for Aiyuk post release is up for debate, yet they have no choice but to wait as long as San Francisco keeps the wideout rostered.

According to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, though, the elongated impasse might potentially be coming to a close soon.

Mike Florio: Brandon Aiyuk 'may soon be released'

Florio reacted to Aiyuk's latest Instagram post and also took into account the fact his previous anti-49ers posts had been deleted.

According to the high-profile NFL personality, it might be an indication the Niners are imminently going to bend and finally give Aiyuk the boot, allowing him to go sign with Washington not long thereafter:

Combined with his decision to extend an olive branch by deleting the videos, it’s hard not to wonder whether the 49ers have decided to abandon the effort to trade Aiyuk and to cut the cord in the coming days. That would avoid the awkward dance of Aiyuk showing up to training camp and forcing his release.

The 49ers have proven their point. By refusing to release Aiyuk and holding out hope for a trade, they’ve wiped out his ability to get up to speed through his new team’s offseason program. At some point, rubbing Aiyuk’s nose in it takes the team’s eye off the bigger prize.

Interestingly enough, though, Aiyuk missed an opportunity to force the issue earlier. Had he shown up to organized team activities, San Francisco would've likely been pressed into releasing him at that point. But Aiyuk opted not to show up.

He could still show up for training camp in late July, though, creating an awkward (understatement) situation.

If the 49ers ultimately want to avoid that, perhaps they end up doing what Florio hints at in the very near future.
