On one hand, the San Francisco 49ers received some relieving injury news by welcoming back offensive lineman Ben Bartch, wide receiver Ricky Pearsall and defensive end Mykel Williams to training camp practices.
On the other, the Niners are beginning to get into crisis mode with fellow receiver Jauan Jennings.
Jennings, who has been missing camp days with a calf injury that was also bugging him during organized team activities, was only able to partake in partial camp practices. In light of still-injured wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk recovering from last year's ACL and MCL tears, additional injuries to both Jennings and Pearsall were problematic, to say the least.
While it'd be welcomed news to have Jennings back at 100 percent, head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters after Thursday's practice this wouldn't be the case.
Jauan Jennings' latest injury updates are bad news for 49ers
Speaking to the press from Levi's Stadium, Shanahan revealed a not-so-great situation for Jennings, saying the receiver reaggravated the calf injury he was dealing with during OTAs:
No timetable for Jauan Jennings (calf). And slow and steady for Ricky Pearsall. #49ers pic.twitter.com/GyztBSzOr2

The worst part about it is there's no apparent timetable for Jennings' return.
On one hand, it's not fully a doom-and-gloom scenario. Jennings has little too prove during training camp, and it's over a month before San Francisco kicks off the regular season in September. Plus, Jennings' absence opens up the door for other receivers like Russell Gage and Isaiah Neyor to get more vital reps.
On the other, though, it's safe to worry whether or not Jennings' injuries linger into the regular season, not unlike how All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey's calf/Achilles injuries kept him out for the first eight weeks of 2024.
The 49ers have shuffled through a number of backend wide receivers on their 90-man camp roster, including a series of transactions reported just before Thursday's practice.
This indicates the Niners may be scrambling a bit, which isn't exactly great news in light of Jennings' most recent setback.
