It's no secret that San Francisco 49ers wideout Brandon Aiyuk has gone off the deep end. His string of social media rants has deemed him untradeable by many and has left his career hanging in the balance.
One NFL pundit might have just said what everybody has been thinking about the young pass catcher, and if more people make the connection, it could mean the end of Aiyuk's career.
Commentator and former NFL linebacker Emmanuel Acho just put the entire situation in perspective for fans and franchises alike.
"Brandon Aiyuk is on an Antonio Brown trajectory without the Antonio Brown talent," Acho said.
The comment is a mic drop on the wideout, to say the least. By saying this, not only is Acho putting into perspective just how wild the saga has been, but he is bringing Aiyuk's radical sense of entitlement to light as well.
49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk continues to throw fit (and without merit)
Aiyuk is hardly the first player to take an egotistical nosedive, evidenced in Brown's whirlwind of an NFL career. The difference between the two, however, is that Brown was able to compile over 12,000 yards through the air, 83 touchdowns, and seven Pro Bowls before his antics earned him a one-way ticket to retirement.
Aiyuk, on the other hand, has only recorded two seasons of over 1,000 receiving yards; he's never scored more than eight times in a season, and he has never made a Pro Bowl.
All that being said, among players who have "earned" their place on the diva podium, Aiyuk may falsely believe he is among them.
Still, it's difficult to overlook the comparison. From livestreaming in the locker room to kicking punters in the face to throwing furniture out of windows, Brown has truly done it all. Still, he managed to build an impressive resume despite being entrenched in drama. It wasn't until his complete on-field meltdown back in 2021, in which he took his uniform off and stormed off the field, that his antics finally caught up to him and officially made him unsignable.
To hear Aiyuk's name mentioned in that same category is a statement in and of itself. While Aiyuk is fairly early in his journey to achieving Brown status, he simply doesn't possess the pedigree that would make teams consider taking on such a distraction.
While Aiyuk continues to put out Washington Commanders propaganda, there is no reason to believe that they, or any other team, has any current interest in acquiring the receiver.
Time will tell if something breaks in Aiyuk's favor, but, as of now, it appears that he is intent on sabotaging his career.
