The 49ers beating the Bears gave Kyle Shanahan the perfect opportunity to shrug off recent trade chatter from an NFL personality.

The San Francisco 49ers' commanding Week 14 win over the visiting Chicago Bears gave head coach Kyle Shanahan a golden chance to refute an interesting talking point that developed in the week leading up to the game.

Earlier in the week, Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio suggested the Bears call the Niners and ask about trading for Shanahan, given Chicago just fired head coach Matt Eberflus the previous week and is now going to be on the hunt for someone to mentor rookie quarterback Caleb Williams.

It was merely a suggestion by Florio, not a report or rumor. But the PFT host's comments certainly made the rounds.

First, general manager John Lynch called the chatter "comical," while plenty around the Bay Area media considered it a laughable idea, too.

After San Francisco pulled off the 38-13 victory, Shanahan himself was asked about the trade suggestion.

Needless to say, the head coach had as straightforward a response as possible.

"I don't want to be any place in the world more than here, and my family feels just as strong, if not a lot stronger," Shanahan said postgame of the trade talk. "You guys are going to have to kick me out of here. There's no way I'm making that decision."

From the 49ers' perspective, Shanahan already received a contract extension that carried him beyond 2025, so a trade doesn't seem likely from even the most extreme vantage point.

While some among the local fanbase feel Shanahan has lost his edge, the national narrative largely blames the Niners' 6-7 record through 14 weeks on yet another slew of injuries, as was evidenced by Fox Sports' TV broadcast throughout the game.

Hard to pin that on the head coach.

Either way, it doesn't appear as if Shanahan will be on the move anytime soon.

Even he doesn't think so.
