The San Francisco 49ers advanced to the Divisional Round, after defeating the Philadelphia Eagles 23-19 on Sunday. The 49ers trailed for most of the game, but that changed on the first play of the fourth quarter. San Francisco dug deep into its offensive play-calling bag, running a trick play where Brock Purdy handed the ball off to Skyy Moore, who then tossed the ball to fellow wide receiver Jauan Jennings on a reverse, before Jennings uncorked a beautiful throw to Christian McCaffrey for a go-ahead touchdown.

The play was so exciting that even Tom Brady lost his cool while calling the action. 49ers players were just as excited when they got the play call. Following the game, Jennings explained that San Francisco just installed the play a couple of weeks ago. However, the wideout was ready for his moment, and praised McCaffrey for completing the play with a phenomenal catch.

The wideout admitted that he didn’t even see the ball after throwing it, and that’s because he was leveled after letting go off the ball. The receiver ended up being on the receiving in of a roughing the passer call, which ultimately didn’t matter since Christian McCaffrey found the ball over his right shoulder, hauling in a catch that once again proved he’s just as much a receiver as a rusher.

Jennings is also just as much a thrower as he is a receiver. While this specific play was new for San Francisco, the 49ers have turned to him to throw the ball before. Sunday’s touchdown was actually Jennings’ second postseason touchdown pass in his career. The reason the team is so comfortable with him throwing the ball is because he was a highly-rated quarterback prospect coming out of high school.

After the exciting touchdown pass on Sunday, fans were quickly reminded that Jennings was the higher-rated dual-threat quarterback in a high school class with Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, and Sam Darnold. Ultimately, catching the ball is how he makes his money and contributes to the 49ers, but sometimes he gets to show off his arm.
