Brock Purdy suffered a shoulder injury in Week 11 that derailed his practice schedule leading up to the game against the Packers.

Injuries have already been a major theme for the San Francisco 49ers this season, including lengthy absences to stars like running back Christian McCaffrey and wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.

Now, quarterback Brock Purdy has joined that list.

The Niners' starting signal-caller suffered a shoulder injury during the Week 11 home loss to the Seattle Seahawks, which resulted in abbreviated practices leading up to the Week 12 road contest against the 7-3 Green Bay Packers.

During the week, according to general manager John Lynch, Purdy even underwent an MRI to determine the extent of the injury and whether or not he'd miss any field time.

Turns out the latest scoop isn't a good one for Purdy and the rest of San Francisco's offense.

Brock Purdy to miss Week 12 vs. Packers because of injury

After Friday's practice, head coach Kyle Shanahan informed reporters that Purdy would miss Sunday's tilt at Lambeau Field because of the shoulder injury.

"I don’t want to say there’s long-term concern," Shanahan said when pressed about the possibility of a long-term injury. "We got the MRI on Monday. We thought he just needed some rest and really weren’t concerned about him not being good this week. But when he started up Thursday, just surprised him, surprised us, how it felt. So we had to shut him down. So, I really don’t what to think of it."

At 5-5, the 49ers desperately need to rediscover their winning ways in order to get back into the playoff picture, as they're currently on the outside, looking in.

Not having Purdy makes prospects for that goal much more difficult, and the Niners will lean on No. 2 quarterback Brandon Allen in Week 12 with the hope of trying to stay pace with a dangerous Packers offense.

While it's an opportunity for Allen, getting his first start since 2021, the obvious best-case scenario would have been Purdy staying healthy and being able to play.

Now, the shades seem cast against San Francisco when it kicks off in Green Bay on Nov. 24 at 4:25 p.m. ET.
