The San Francisco 49ers probably won’t make too many moves in free agency the rest of this offseason. They already had the NFL Draft and signed some undrafted free agents, and while there are always some holes to fill or extra bodies to have before training camp, don’t expect too many additions.

There are still some forgotten former Niners lingering in free agency, though. A big former Niner just went off the board in Jauan Jennings as he signed with the Minnesota Vikings, but these players in particular are guys many fans may have forgotten about.

Or at least haven’t thought of in a while.

Let’s take a look at three former 49ers looking for a home.

WR Dante Pettis

The 49ers took a chance on wide receiver Dante Pettis out of the University of Washington back in 2018 by drafting him in the second round. That chance did not pay off as San Francisco moved on from him in 2020 after he simply didn’t pan out.

Pettis had 467 receiving yards in his rookie year along with five touchdowns, but it became clear he and head coach Kyle Shanahan did not mesh.

The receiver has bounced around from team to team in the years since and most recently played for the New Orleans Saints the last two seasons.

He’s age 30 now, so maybe he can find a home with someone, but Pettis might just end up being a practice squad guy for some team out there.

OL Daniel Brunskill

The 49ers signed offensive lineman Daniel Brunskill in 2019 after a brief stint with the Atlanta Falcons and the San Diego Fleet of the AAF. He ended up starting quite a few games for the Niners, but by 2022, he had been relegated to reserve status.

Brunskill spent a few years with the Tennessee Titans, but in 2025, he reunited with his former offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel on the Miami Dolphins and played in 16 games.

The San Diego State product is now age 32, and teams can always use a reserve lineman. So expect some team to sign him to a contract before the start of preseason.

S Isaiah Oliver

The San Francisco 49ers brought in Isaiah Oliver to play nickel cornerback for them back in 2023 under defensive coordinator Steve Wilks. It turned out not to be the best move as Oliver struggled and was no longer a starter by the end of the season.

He is now a safety and was most recent with the New York Jets and played under Wilks again last season.

The Niners do have a need at safety, but don’t expect a reunion with Oliver anytime soon as that ship has likely sailed.

It’s always interesting to see where former Niners end up, so we’ll have to see if these guys land with a new team or languish in free agency for a while.
