3 emergency trades 49ers can make after Brandon Aiyuk injury

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk went down with a grisly knee injury in Week 7 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

While his status is currently unknown, the Niners should look into trading for a wide receiver.

The 49ers still have Deebo Samuel, Jauan Jennings, and George Kittle as elite pass catchers on offense, but all three have experienced injuries in 2024. They do have rookie Ricky Pearsall back in action, but it is a lot to ask of him to fill in for Aiyuk especially after Pearsall was shot just a few months ago.

That is why it would behoove the Niners to add another wide receiver via trade with the Nov. 5 trade deadline fast approaching.

Let's take a look at three wide receivers San Francisco should target via trade.

1. Tee Higgins

The Cincinnati Bengals have had a bit of a rough season so far. They currently sit at 3-4 and are still definitely in the playoff hunt, but their struggles early in the year make one wonder whether they are a legit playoff team.

If they lose a few more games before the trade deadline, they may decide to trade off some of their better players.

This could include wide receiver Tee Higgins.

So far this season, Higgins has 29 receptions for 341 yards and three touchdowns. At 6-foot-4, he would be the tallest wide receiver on the Niners, if traded, and would be a valuable threat on offense.

2. Christian Kirk

One team that definitely seems like it could be in the market to sell is the Jacksonville Jaguars. They currently sit at 2-5 and have struggled for most of this season.

That could make one of their top wide receivers, Christian Kirk, available via trade. He has struggled a little bit this season, only catching 25 passes for 320 yards and one touchdown.

Kirk would likely benefit from having a better quarterback throwing to him like Brock Purdy and could give the Niners a boost on offense.

3. Jakobi Meyers

The Las Vegas Raiders already got rid of their top wide receiver Davante Adams by trading him to the New York Jets.

With the Raiders having a tough year, they may decide to have a fire sale and try to accumulate draft picks. They may be willing to part ways with Jakobi Meyers who has 25 catches for 273 yards and a touchdown on the year.

It seems like Aiyuk is going to miss a lot of time with this injury. That is why it would be smart for the Niners to go out and get another wide receiver to ensure Purdy has enough solid options to throw the ball to.
