The 49ers officially have a wide receiver crisis.

Already playing without Deebo Samuel (sickness) and Juuan Jennings (knee), the 49ers got more bad injury news on Sunday when star wideout Brandon Aiyuk left the game with a gruesome-looking knee injury.

Midway through the 2nd quarter of Week 7's game against the Chiefs, Aiyuk went down awkwardly after getting hit by after being hit by Kansas City defensive backs Trent McDuffie and Chamarri Conner while coming down with a catch. After originally going into the injury tent on the sideline, Aiyuk was carted back into the locker room for more tests.

While there hasn't been much more in the way of updates on Aiyuk, it's never a good sign when a player goes from the injury tent to the locker room – on a cart, no less. His injury means that the Niners are now without Aiyuk, Samuel, Jennings, and Christian McCaffery – four of their top five reception leaders from 2023.

After spending the summer in a headline-making holdout before signing a four-year, $120 million extension right before the regular season began, Aiyuk's had a slower-than-usual start to his year: through Week 6, he had 23 catches for a little over 300 yards with no touchdowns.
