Cowboys fans are melting down after 49ers fleece Dallas in Osa Odighizuwa trade

What a beautiful sight...

The San Francisco 49ers made a big trade by landing Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Osa Odighizuwa. The Niners only had to part with a third-round draft pick, which is a very affordable price.

And Cowboys fans are not handling it well at all.

Many think that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones got fleeced in the deal, and many were upset Dallas only got a third-round pick for a guy who was a solid player for the Cowboys and also signed an $80 million extension a year ago.

One fan commented on social media, "Did my boy dirty, JJ," referring to Jones.

Another chimed in, "For one third round pick that's very disrespectful to him and the fans what are we doing."

From the point of view of Cowboys fans, if one is brave enough to try to see things from their shoes for a second, they have to be upset that Odighizuwa is getting traded to the 49ers, of all places, for that price. The 49ers-Cowboys rivalry is not what it was in the 1980s or 1990s, but there is certainly no love lost between the two fanbases.

Fans well-versed in history may recall when the Niners traded defensive lineman Charles Haley to the Cowboys back in 1992 for a couple of draft picks, and that's a move the Niners absolutely regretted making.

Odighizuwa is probably not going to be enshrined in Canton someday, but if he can be a solid presence on the defensive line for San Francisco, then it will look like a very smart trade.

The 27-year-old had 3.5 sacks last season, so he could potentially help the 49ers get some more pressure on opposing quarterbacks, something they struggled with a lot last season.

Kalia Davis and Jordan Elliott, the two guys who saw a lot of time at defensive tackle last season, are both departing this offseason, as Elliott already signed with Robert Saleh's Tennessee Titans and Davis was non-tendered.

Relying on Alfred Collins and C.J. West, two players who showed promise as rookies last season but also have a lot of room for growth, would have been risky, so adding a veteran presence like Odighizuwa is a good move by general manager John Lynch.

We will see how the move pans out. But for now, it's worth it just to see Cowboys fans lose their minds a bit. San Francisco will face Dallas on the road this upcoming season, so Odighizuwa will have a chance to wreak some havoc against his former team.

Let's hope he makes Jones regret getting rid of him for a draft pick.
