The 49ers offense couldn't get anything going in the snow against the Bills, and Brock Purdy's efforts reflected that.
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has had a few "clunker" games over his otherwise excellent career.
One of those took place on the road against the Buffalo Bills in Week 13 on Sunday Night Football.
Granted, the Niners' woes amid the 35-10 one-sided defeat weren't entirely on the signal-caller. He can't be blamed for kicker Jake Moody's multiple field-goal misses, nor can Purdy be called out for fullback Kyle Juszczyk fumbling near the goal line on a crucial possession early in the third quarter. Purdy had nothing to do with San Francisco's defense not being able to stop Buffalo running back James Cook either.
And, yes. The snow was a factor.
Still, when one simply looks at the box score and compares it to others, they'll notice something about the quarterback's efforts at Highmark Stadium on Sunday night.
Brock Purdy reaches new low in 49ers' season-low of a loss to Bills
While the 49ers' playoff chances took a massive blow in the Week 12 road loss to the Green Bay Packers, Week 13's defeat to Buffalo is another example of why Purdy and Co. are nowhere near a playoff-caliber team.
Purdy's efforts in the game weren't exactly playoff-caliber either, despite the weather.
The Niners' signal-caller went 11-of-18 on the game, which does point out the lack of passing attack (the Bills' Josh Allen attempted only 17 passes in the game, too) with both squads emphasizing the run.
But Purdy's new career-low came by way of passing yards. Just 94 of them, a new personal worst in games where he started.
In 2023, during a Week 6 loss at the Cleveland Browns, Purdy had tossed 125 yards. With Week 13 in the books, No. 13 now has just five starts in which he failed to pass for at least 200 yards.
Sure, those who watched the game will recall how snow played a major role in the numbers.
But, stats are stats. And they reflect San Francisco's overall ineptitude at the hands of the Bills.
