It appears as even the most ardent Brock Purdy critics are beginning to come around on just how good a quarterback he's been for the San Francisco 49ers.
Case in point, FS1's Colin Cowherd, who has never shied away from bashing Purdy, wholly changed his tune after the signal-caller helped the Niners utterly dismantle the Miami Dolphins in Week 2.
Cowherd since reversed his tune, although it certainly helped to have former NFL quarterback Matt Hasselbeck point out to the show host how those who've played the position have a tremendous deal of admiration and respect for Purdy:

"OK, so it's the Dolphins," the remaining critics may point out. And that'd be a fair assessment.
But, when looking at three accomplishments Purdy reached during the game, including two that were compiled over time, it's easy to see why critics like Cowherd have little choice but to change their opinions.

Purdy was dominant in the win over Miami, completing 20 of his 22 pass attempts (the two incompletions were a drop by wide receiver Deebo Samuel and a controversial intentional-grounding call).
In the performance, specifically, the quarterback became the first in NFL history to complete at least 90 percent of his passes for at least 285 yards and two touchdowns, while also adding a rushing touchdown on the ground.
Sure, it was against the Dolphins, but it does illustrate how much of a command he had.
Looking over the entirety of his career, though, Purdy now ranks No. 1 among quarterbacks with 13 games with a 130-plus passer rating over the first five seasons of his career. Previously, Russell Wilson held the mark at 12 such games.

Tightening the proverbial screws even more, evaluating most games over the first five years with a 140-plus passer rating, Purdy now sits atop the NFL quarterbacking leaderboard with eight such games. Ben Roethlisberger, Kurt Warner and Roger Staubach previously led this category with seven such games.
"If Brock Purdy was 6-foot-5 and could throw it 70 yards, people would say he's the best quarterback in the National Football League," former cornerback and now-analyst Richard Sherman said on his podcast.
Indeed, by looking at the accomplishments, it's increasingly harder to conclude anything else. The latest three fall in line behind plenty of other noteworthy accolades.
Just ask Cowherd.
