One has to conclude when the San Francisco 49ers release a fringe wide receiver, they tell him not to travel too far or turn off his phone.
The Monday prior to their first preseason game of 2025, the Niners executed a swarm of roster moves that included parting ways with a promising undrafted wideout, Isaiah Neyor, while also bidding farewell to other receivers not long before.
Two names were part of those earlier transactions, Equanimeous St. Brown and Andy Isabella, wideouts who were intended to give head coach Kyle Shanahan some depth in light of injuries to other key receivers, namely Jauan Jennings, Ricky Pearsall and Jacob Cowing.
Brown found himself released by San Francisco on July 31, mere days after joining him to bolster training camp's numbers. Adding Isabella was a corresponding move after a roster spot freed up.
However, on Monday, Isabella joined the growing list of injured players and had to leave practice, prompting the 49ers to release him, too (likely with an injury settlement), and re-sign St. Brown, as reported by NBC Sports Bay Area's Matt Maiocco:

Those two receivers alone seem to be bouncing back and forth off the the Niners' training camp roster, which isn't exactly big news as neither is expected to make the 53-man group in advance of Week 1.
But, the nature of the transactions shows just how much injuries have played a role in forcing San Francisco to get creative to ensure enough bodies are able to participate in camp practices.
There'll likely be plenty of additional tweaks and changes between now and final cut-down day prior to the regular season, and one might expect fans haven't seen the last of players like St. Brown (and possibly Isabella) signed, released and re-signed again and again.
