The San Francisco 49ers have seen several players depart this offseason in free agency while not adding many key names. They made a move on Tuesday evening, inking wide receiver Demarcus Robinson to a two-year deal worth $9.5 million. Robinson is set to receive $6 million guaranteed.

Robinson was a fourth-round pick by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2016 NFL Draft and spent six years with them, winning a Super Bowl with them in the 2019 season and then played with Baltimore for one year. 49ers fans, however, are probably more familiar with the production he had with the Los Angeles Rams where he spent the past two seasons.

Robinson proved to be an effective playmaker for the Rams in 2024, tallying 31 receptions for 505 yards and scoring seven touchdowns. Now he'll be playing for a different NFC West team and catching passes from Brock Purdy.

What grade do the 49ers deserve for the Demarcus Robinson signing?

With Deebo Samuel off to Washington, it was important for the 49ers to add more help at the wide receiver position and that's what this move was. Robinson isn't going to be a superstar but he's a nice depth piece and gives the Niners more options at wide receiver. Now Robinson joins a receiver group of Brandon Aiyuk, Jauan Jennings, and former first-round pick Ricky Pearsall.

Robinson not only bolsters the wide receiver room for the Niners but it takes away a weapon from Matthew Stafford and the Rams. It's always a good day when the 49ers can one-up the Rams, even if it only involves a lesser-known wide receiver.

With all of that said, it's hard to have much of an issue with this move. The 49ers brought in a wide receiver on the cheaper side and took away talent from a division rival. That's why the 49ers signing Demarcus Robinson earns an A-.
