The San Francisco 49ers have already endured plenty of problems at wide receiver, and it's not even the regular season yet.

Now, they officially know how long veteran wide receiver Demarcus Robinson will be out of the picture.

Robinson, who came over from the Los Angeles Rams via free agency during the offseason, already had a red flag on his profile when the Niners inked him to a two-year deal worth up to $9.5 million. The previous year, Robinson pled "no contest" to a 2024 DUI arrest when he was with the Rams, which opened the door to a likely suspension from the NFL.

With days remaining before the Niners open up their 2025 preseason campaign, Robinson's length of suspension is now known.

49ers' WR situation just got worse with Demarcus Robinson suspension

San Francisco was aware Robinson's suspension was imminent, and when the league handed out a three-game suspension for a similar offense to Minnesota Vikings star receiver Jordan Addison, it was only a matter of time for the 49ers' own wideout to receive similar news.

What the Niners couldn't have been aware of earlier this offseason, however, was the nature of their receiving shortages, particularly with Jauan Jennings, Ricky Pearsall and Jacob Cowing all banged up and injured at various points during camp.

Now, Robinson's three-game suspension is official, head coach Kyle Shanahan revealing as much on the Bay Area's KNBR 680.

Robinson, meanwhile, has stood out at camp, suggesting San Francisco's decision to go ahead and onboard him despite the pending discipline could ultimately pay off, especially in the wake of trading All-Pro wide receiver Deebo Samuel to the Washington Commanders last March.

For now, though, the veteran receiver will miss the 49ers' first three games of the regular season: Week 1 at the Seattle Seahawks, Week 2 at the New Orleans Saints and Week 3 versus the Arizona Cardinals.

Robinson can still suit up and play in the preseason finale against the Los Angeles Chargers, however.
