Just five days ago, the San Francisco 49ers made a tough decision to part ways with beloved full back Kyle Juszczyk.
It was a move that many saw coming, with San Francisco attempting to save some money.
Juszczyk then had a brief free agency stint with other teams interested, most notably the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, Saturday morning came with great news for Niner fans.
The 49ers have re-signed full back Kyle Juszczyk on a 2-year contract
San Francisco brought Juszczyk back into the fold on a 2-year, $8 million deal.
Originally when the team decided to cut Juszczyk, it was a tough pill to swallow.
It was definitely a move that caused reactions of sadness within the locker room and fan base. Tight end George Kittle's reaction to the news was one 49ers fans could relate to.
But now, the 9-time Pro Bowler returns for a continued quest under Kyle Shanahan. This team is going to look a lot different next season, with the 49ers having lost many notable names this offseason. But, being able to retain players like Juszczyk is going to allow the culture and chemistry to remain within the locker room.
Going back to Juszczyk's brief free agency, the Steelers were involved.
Per ESPN's sources, Juszczyk took less money to remain in San Francisco than what the Steelers were offering him. So, that speaks volumes.
It has been a wonderful 8-year run in San Francisco for the one fans call "Juice."
He has been the epitome of what a true Swiss Army Knife looks like at the full back position. Being able to block with the best of them while also a threat in the receiving game makes him invaluable, especially to a Shanahan offense.
For now, Juice sticks around at least another year, and hopefully he gets the opportunity to fulfill both years on the new contract.
