49ers' Osa Odighizuwa trade looks like an utter fleece now that it's finalized

This looks like a complete steal for the Niners after Dallas' received pick.

No matter what, the San Francisco 49ers already won their trade with the Dallas Cowboys for standout defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa.

A third-round pick, No. 92 overall, was all it took for the Niners to plug a significant hole in the middle of their defensive line. Given general manager John Lynch's recent track record of third-round picks, sending off that selection to Dallas for an established player who'll make a hefty impact right away was certainly a wise move.

And it got even better with the Cowboys' use of San Francisco's former pick.

With the 92nd overall pick, Dallas ended up selecting defensive end Jaishawn Barham out of Michigan.

Granted, no one has any clue how said player will pan out at the pro level. Yet there are plenty of reasons to suspect why he won't turn into a cornerstone piece for owner Jerry Jones' historic franchise.

Barham, 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds, is a bit of a tweener who doesn't quite fit the bill for an outside linebacker in a 3-4 base but isn't beefy enough to be a 4-3 defensive end. Making things more troubling, his pass-rush array is awfully limited, and relying almost solely on ferocity won't exactly translate over to the pro level where good technique is needed.

Perhaps the Cowboys wind up harnessing Barham's abilities and turn them into something useful, but for now, the rusher appears to be more of a developmental prospect with a far-to-reach upside rather than someone who can provide an impact anytime soon.

Meanwhile, the 49ers will happily take Odighizuwa, as they know fully well what he'll have to offer as an interior disruptor who'll collapse pockets and make things easier for what was an inept Niners pass rush a season ago.

The Niners continue to win that trade, and Dallas' selection of Barham just reinforced that.
