The San Francisco 49ers have something of a reputation for stockpiling compensatory selections each year for the NFL Draft, either letting go of quality free agents who sign qualifying deals elsewhere or by having minority coaching/front office assistants take on bigger roles with other teams.
Either way, the Niners receiving comp picks each spring has become no surprise to the fanbase.
Armed with four natural picks in this April's draft, general manager John Lynch and Co. will receive an additional three of the compensatory variety, bringing San Francisco's net total to seven.
Turns out, these three comp picks all fall in the same round, Round 4.

The three picks are to be awarded to the Niners for last offseason's free-agent departures of offensive guard Aaron Banks, safety Talanoa Hufanga and cornerback Charvarius Ward, as those three qualified for the complex formula the NFL uses to determine if/when teams receive such selections.
According to Over the Cap, the loss of linebacker Dre Greenlaw to free agency was canceled out by the pickup of former Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Luke Farrell.
