49ers' injury curse seems to be infecting the Golden State Warriors now

It's a disease...

Everyone knows the San Francisco 49ers dealt with an insane number of injuries last season. Whether one blamed old age or some debunked theory, one couldn’t argue with the fact the Niners got burned by missing so many key pieces for much of the year.

Unfortunately, those who believe in conspiracies or curses now have more fodder to run with as several Golden State Warriors players have gone down with injuries this season.

With 49ers players in attendance, no less.

Earlier this year in January, running back Christian McCaffrey and fullback Kyle Juszczyk attended the Warriors game when Jimmy Butler went down with what turned out to be a season-ending ACL tear.

Then, last Thursday night against the Los Angels Lakers, Ricky Pearsall was in attendance when rookie LJ Cryer went down with what seemed to be a major injury. Thankfully, it turns out that Cryer only suffered a sprain, so a Niners player did not witness, or cause, another season-ender.

Still, that did not stop fans on social media from joking about the fact that another 49ers player was there to see a Warrior get hurt:

Some who can’t let the electrical substation theory go may rationalize this by saying the combined electric residue from McCaffrey and Jusczyk, since it was closer to the NFL season at that point, was enough to tear Butler’s ACL, while Pearsall, who hasn’t been practicing in Santa Clara for a bit, had reduced electricity on his body which was only powerful enough to sprain Cryer’s ankle.

Or maybe the more rational-minded conclude that injuries are a part of sports, and the 49ers have a lot of older players, as do the Warriors, so one has to expect a fair number of injuries over the course of a long season.

Better yet, maybe the whole Bay Area is cursed. If it is, the San Francisco Giants may have to watch out with their season just getting underway.

Expect the Niners to deal with a ton of injuries again next season. They have a pretty old team as it is, and two of their big offseason acquisitions have been Mike Evans and Dre Greenlaw, who spent a lot of time injured last season.

Injuries are a constant at this point for the 49ers, but who knows? Maybe we’ll even get a new wild theory to explain why they happen next season.
