49ers may not be done adding at wide receiver even after landing Mike Evans

There are other intriguing names out there...

The San Francisco 49ers have already made a big splash in free agency by signing wide receiver Mike Evans. They may not be done adding at wide receiver just yet, however, as there are still some enticing names available on the market.

San Francisco now has a clear No. 1 receiver atop the depth chart, but there is still work to be done. While Ricky Pearsall projects to be the No. 2 receiver, the potential that both he and Evans could get hurt this upcoming season is too great not to add another receiver or two.

The Niners will probably select at least one receiver in next month's NFL Draft, but they may not have to do it in the first round after landing Evans.

Still, the rest of the depth chart looks a little paltry currently with names like Demarcus Robinson, Jacob Cowing, and Jordan Watkins. The Niners could use another proven receiver in the mix.

49ers may still add WR help after signing Mike Evans

Tyreek Hill was one of the fastest, most dangerous receivers in the game at his peak. He is coming off a major knee injury and is nowhere near where he was at his prime, but there's something exciting about the idea of having Evans and Hill on the same team, and the latter could probably be had at a fairly affordable price in free agency, although he may miss some time recovering from that injury.

Solid veterans like Christian Kirk and Curtis Samuel could make sense, too, if the Niners want to add another deep threat for quarterback Brock Purdy.

Another interesting option is Keenan Allen. The veteran has been with the Los Angeles Chargers for most of his career, but now that he's in his mid-30s, he could probably be had at a little bit of a cheaper price. If Jauan Jennings departs, Allen is a proven third-down option so he could be a nice replacement.

A reunion with Jennings is not entirely out of the question even though it seems quite unlikely after the Evans signing. Jennings would have to accept a deal in the $10 million per-year range, and he probably would rather chase No. 1 receiver money if he can get it somewhere else.

Another nostalgic name the 49ers have been seen by some as a fit for is Deebo Samuel. It would have to be a cheap deal, but maybe he could be a nice veteran guy to have on the roster.

Maybe the Evans signing will be the lone major free agent addition at wide receiver, but if the Niners really want to boost the depth chart, they can do so.
