The San Francisco 49ers will square off against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 10. While it’s always fun when the two teams face off due to the historic rivalry between the franchises, that rivalry will have an added element of revenge this time around since it will be defensive lineman Osa Odighizuwa’s first time facing his old team.
The Cowboys traded Odighizuwa to the 49ers in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. It was a bit of a surprise move, since Odighizuwa has been a solid player for Dallas since 2021. He should shore up San Francisco’s interior line and is clearly already looking forward to facing Dallas.
Odighizuwa appeared on Richard Sherman’s podcast recently and was rubbing his hands together as he talked about how he’s excited to be on the other side of the rivalry and how he always circled games against the Niners back when he was with the Cowboys:
Osa Odighizuwa says he has the Cowboys game circled on the 49ers schedule:

“Speaking to the rivalry, this is a game that for a long time, it’s the game that you got a picture on a dart board and you’re throwing the knife at the picture and now I just take down the picture and I put up the other picture and I’m on the other side of it, but the energy is exactly the same,” Odighizuwa said.
Even though players understand the NFL is a business and that trades are usually not personal, it has to sting at least a little bit when the team that drafts you decides to trade you to a rival in exchange for a pick.
Odighizuwa can channel whatever anger or frustration he has towards the Cowboys into that game and hopefully he can sack quarterback Dak Prescott at least a few times.
That Week 10 matchup will be an important one for the 49ers. It will be shortly after their bye week, and it wouldn’t be a huge shock if the Niners have a winning record at that point but may not be in first place of the NFC West.
That game against Dallas could set them up for the rest of the season.
With a win, maybe it gives the Niners the momentum they need to make it to the playoffs again, but with a loss, maybe it makes a playoff appearance tough to envision.
It’s always important when these two historic franchises meet, but this duel feels like it is going to be especially important, and Odighizuwa flipping sides only adds more intrigue to the matchup.
