On Sunday, the San Francisco 49ers won a pivotal road division game against the Seattle Seahawks. Wide receiver Mike Evans stole many of the headlines with his seven-catch, 113-yard performance, but the win was hardly the result of one man's effort.

In fact, the 49ers took a page directly out of Seattle's book. In other words, every member in a red and gold jersey had a part to play. Though mistakes were made along the way, it was arguably the biggest team effort thus far in the young season.

The Niners won by playing the Seahawks' brand of winning football. In order to figure out what that brand is, fans need to look no further than their Super Bowl run last year. The team was known for its formidable defense, with a lights-out secondary and a relentless defensive line.

Quarterback Sam Darnold had revived his career, but he was hardly the engine that ignited the offense, as evidenced by running back Kenneth Walker III winning the Super Bowl MVP in a day when it's almost a sure bet for a team's QB to secure the award.

In short, the Seahawks have conjured up a winning culture by playing complete football and relying on effective play up and down the roster.

49ers fully embodied what it means to be a team against Seahawks

The Seahawks have carried that persona into 2026, but in Week 5, the 49ers beat them at their own game.

The usual suspects headlined the effort. Evans put on a clinic on the outside. Christian McCaffrey controlled the ground game. Fred Warner led the team in tackles. But it was the players behind the stars that propelled the Niners to victory.

Jaden Dugger, for example, had nine tackles while filling in for linebacker Dre Greenlaw, who was ejected after some sideline antics early in the game.

Cornerback Renardo Green had not one, but two interceptions, one of them setting up an easy score for the offense.

Defensive tackle Gracen Halton forced a fumble and recovered it for a touchdown at the end of the first half.

Everybody stepped up. Every single contribution was needed, no matter how big or small. Sunday was a true test to see how the 49ers would answer adversity, as they endured countless injuries, turnovers, and bad breaks throughout the game. Fortunately, everybody on the squad rallied in the comeback victory.

Though it wasn't pretty, the Niners' win over the Seahawks might be their most reassuring one, yet it reinforces the idea that the red and gold are a true Super Bowl contender, and they are capable of winning in a plethora of ways.
